Building More Than a Solar System 3.8kw Go Far Solutiom

Jason Eddy |

When I received the Renogy Go Far 3.8kWh Solution, I wanted to do more than just install it. I wanted to build something that would continue to serve a purpose long after the project was finished.

Instead of mounting everything inside an RV, I built a removable backboard that will eventually be installed on my rolling workbench in my storage shop. It gave me the perfect platform to film the installation, clearly show each component, and create a clean, organized system that’s easy to maintain and expand.

One thing that really stood out during this build is how much Renogy has simplified the installation process. The components are designed to work together, the cables are pre-made and labeled, and the wiring diagram is easy to follow. Rather than spending hours sourcing compatible parts and making custom cables, I was able to focus on building a clean installation and understanding how the system works.

  • Go Far 3.8kWh Battery: Stores energy for the workshop and future projects.
  • Solar Panel: Provides a renewable input for the power system.
  • 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter: Includes a transfer switch for converting stored energy into usable AC power.
  • 50A DC-DC Charger with Integrated MPPT: Combines DC-DC charging and solar management in one component.
  • Disconnects, Fuses, and Busbars: Keeps the power path organized and makes the system easier to isolate and maintain.
  • Bluetooth Monitoring: Helps keep track of the system while it is being tested and used.

The best part is that I planned this backboard with the future in mind. I intentionally left room to expand by adding a Renogy Rover charge controller, a Renogy Core monitoring system, and additional solar capacity as my shop grows. Instead of rebuilding everything later, I’ll simply add to a platform that’s already organized and ready.

Once testing is complete, this won’t be a display piece. It’ll become the power system for my storage shop, providing clean, reliable energy for lights, charging batteries, running tools, and future projects.

A system that’s easy to install is great. A system that’s easy to understand, maintain, and expand is even better. That’s exactly what I set out to build with the Renogy Go Far 3.8kWh Solution.
