Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of devices can be charged with this panel?
400W solar panel blanket can charge batteries (solar charge controllers are required) and portable power stations. Just ensure the open circuit voltage of the solar panel does not exceed the maximum DC input voltage of any connected power stations or solar charge controllers.
Can I use non-Renogy branded power stations with 400W Solar Panel blanket?
Yes. You can use 400W solar panel blanket with portable solar generators from other manufacturers with the solar adapter cable. Always check the specs of your portable power stations to ensure compatibility.
Why is my portable solar panel underproducing?
The output performance of solar panels is dependent on multiple factors. These include sunlight intensity, temperature, and weather conditions. Indirect sunlight, rising temperatures, cloudiness, and dust and dirt build-up can reduce the output of your solar panel.
How should I connect multiple solar panels for my system? Should I use a series or parallel configuration?
400W solar panel blanket can be connected in series or parallel configuration or array. How you choose to connect multiple solar panels depends both on the size of your off-grid solar system and your power needs. Connecting solar panels in a series increases the voltage of the system, leaving the system current output the same as a single panel. The total amount of voltage of a series-connected array can be measured by multiplying the voltage output of a single panel by the number of panels. Or if you have panels of different voltages you add the voltage of each panel to get the total voltage of the array. Connecting solar panels in parallel increases the current of the array and maintains the voltage output of a single panel. The total current of a solar array connected in parallel can be measured by multiplying the current of a single panel by the number of panels. Make sure the open circuit voltage of the connected panels does not exceed the maximum DC input voltage of the power station or controller.

    Powerful, portable, and rugged

Posted by ronald belcher on May 11th 2025

This 400W solar panel accompanied us to complete a self-driving trip, the whole 8 days, during the day it used it to charge the Jackery power supply, and at night rely on the power supply to cook, lighting, blowing air. The most convenient point is that it unfolds just enough to cover the front glass, directly into a sunshade, not only generates electricity, but also cools the car. With the MPPT controller, the efficiency is very stable. The size is about the same as a backpack, and the carrying straps are very strong, so it doesn't take up much space in the car. For us, this board can be said to be ¡®multi-purpose¡¯ and very worthwhile!

    Portable Value

Posted by Corey on May 10th 2025

Great portable solar panel if you have limited space in your vehicle. The folded size is compact and easy to stow. The build quality is great and it seems tough enough. We¡¯ve used ours on a few overlanding and camping trips since purchasing. It¡¯s easy to deploy and fold back up. It charges our power generators and runs our fridge without issue. You do have to keep in mind that with this being a multi-fold panel and not a bi or tri fold rigid one, it will have to hang or lay flat as it can¡¯t be angled with a kickstand or prop. There are two included carabiners and grommets on the panel itself. We¡¯ve either played it flat atop our jeep roof, across the front window with the carabiners, or on the hood. But it's good that the cable of it was long enough(3m).

    Multiple installation methods

Posted by malimish on May 7th 2025

I love the versatility of this solar panel, i can lay it on the ground, hang it in a sunny spot, or even charge it directly from a car window. I use it to connect to my ecoflow mobile power supply and it adapts quickly to both 12V and 24V battery systems, eliminating the need for a tedious conversion step.

    400W solar panel blanket

Posted by Brian Whitaker on Apr 29th 2025

I always wanted to find a lightweight solar panel for my truck camping. This Renogy blanket panel only weighs 16 lbs, folds to backpack size, and fits behind the seat, which meets my needs. On a recent riverside trip, I set it on my truck hood, and the 3-meter cable easily reached my campsite. It kept my Jackery and two lithium batteries charged, even through light rain. It's super reliable.
