Description

Adding a solar power system to an RV can create added convenience and savings. Solar panels produce energy from sunlight, an abundant and renewable energy source. Adding solar panels can help you dock and park your recreational vehicle without a power hookup, resulting in cost savings and increased freedom. Unlike traditional gas generators, Renogy 400 Watt 12 Volt Solar RV Kit silently recharges your batteries so you can enjoy the great outdoors without the extra noise. Solar panels allow you to run limited low-watt electrical equipment without a power hookup.

Renogy RV Kits are designed to meet your RV needs. This kit includes four 100W 12V Monocrystalline Solar Panels, one Adventurer 30A PWM Charge Controller, one 30ft 10AWG Solar Adaptor Kit, one 16ft 10AWG Tray Cable, three pairs of Branch Connectors, a BT-1 Bluetooth Module and one Renogy Cable Entry Housing.

The Adventurer 30A PWM Charge Controller is specifically designed for RV applications as it allows for aesthetically clean flush mounting on walls and is negative-grounded for battery compatibility. It also features an LCD screen for displaying system operation information and data and allows for full control of parameter settings. The control is embedded with self-diagnostics and electronic protection functions that prevent damage from installation mistakes or system faults.

Newly added BT-1 Bluetooth Module enables user to pair the charge controller with our smartphone app DC Home. The APP allows you to view system performance in real time and make parameter changes right from your smartphone.

1. What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system ?

A solar panel has to be connected to a charge controller to regulate current, and a battery to store the electrical power. You will need adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller, and tray cables connecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery.

2. What does off-grid and on-grid mean ?

On-grid simply means solar power equipment (array or solar panel) is connected to the electrical grid, while off-grid refers to systems that are not connected to the grid and therefore store the generated power for later use. Off-grid systems are not affected by grid blackouts.
3. Why is my solar panel under producing ?

Solar panel performance may be hindered for a number of reasons. Most commonly environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rise, cloudy sky, and dirt and stain build up on the top glass will cause a reduced power output.
4. How should I connect solar panels in my electrical circuit (series vs parallel)?

Solar panels can be connected in series or in parallel to meet your electrical circuit size and power demand. Connecting solar panels in series will have the effect of adding up their operating voltage output, while system current output will be the same as that for one panel. While, connecting solar panels in parallel will have a different effect; individual panels operating current output will add up to be the system output current, while system output voltage will be the same as the output voltage of one solar panel. To meet the optimum power output and system rating for your power system, you can use both parallel and series connections.
5. How many solar panels do I need ?

The best way to gauge how many solar panels you need, is to understand and define the power load needed from this system. Power is measured in Watts, and capacity is commonly measured in Watt-hours (multiplying power output in watts by the required number of hours of operation multiplied by a safety factor of 1.5-2). Therefore, it is wise to size your battery bank first based on the minimum required capacity, and accordingly decide how many panels or how much power input is needed.

Posted by Michael Cassidy on Sep 1st 2019

Everything worked as advertised although I had to get extension cables to be able to reach the 2 panels I located near the rear of my trailer. Also the blue tooth module was not included in my package but customer service quickly agreed to send me one even though it had been several weeks since my kit arrived. I had been out of town and had not even opened the box. It was good service to send me the missing module even though I had not been prompt in noticing it missing.

I was shipped short the BT1

Posted by ROBERT BIERSBACH on Aug 4th 2019

I was shipped short the BT1 however customer service sent on to me immediately. The components are all high quality and easy to work with. if I were to make one suggestion it would be to price the kit without wire since there isn't enough anyway and make available spools of wire in various lengths and allow the purchaser to custom make his needs.

    Great Kit

Posted by Eric on Jul 10th 2016

This kit had everything I needed to get the TT wired for solar. I only wish the Temp sensing sensor and Voltage sensor had longer leads as I had to extend them to reach the battery bank. Now my 430ah of batteries are sitting there float charging at 100% and it's not even noon yet. Glad I didn't try to piece together a kit and called these guys. Buy once, cry once...

    RV Solar Panel Kit

Posted by Kenneth Stribling on Oct 25th 2015

Installation was straight forward and after getting hooked up the system is working Great. I ordered the 4 panel kit and just wished that I would have ordered the Extension cables the tied the 2 sets of 2 together that would have made it a snap to put together as it is I had to do some soldering of wires to make a connection between the 2 sets of panels. I am very happy with the Kit and for the price they cant be beat.
