Great machine, AFTER the break in period!

Posted by joelpatterson on Oct 21st 2021

This is an example of modern technology, at its modern-est! It is password protected, for starters (What? Who thought that was needed?? Is there really the risk of some no-goodnick changing the settings???) Which leads to the next problem-- the buttons on the front DO NOT WORK right out of the box. Eventually, if you have faith and keep at it, you will be able to get them to respond as they should-- like, you hit a button, and the screen changes or the highlighted value changes or IT DOES WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO. That doesn't happen at first. So, you are faced with a dilemma: the huge variety of settings, which are originally set to factory defaults, are not the settings for your installation. But you can't change them. BECAUSE THE BUTTONS DON'T WORK! This might seem like an insurmountable challenge-- fortunately, if you devote several days of "exercising" the buttons, and your own perhaps limited patience, you can finally achieve the enviable ability TO CHANGE THE PARAMETER SETTINGS which really is a huge priority, in the scheme of things. Never mind that the included manual can be cryptic: like it refers to an "OK button," but never mentions that there is no "OK button," what it really means is the "right arrow button," when the highlighted field is in certain conditions. You're supposed to know this, instinctively. It's also got a vaguely "translated from a foreign language" air, like the phrase, and I quote, "To enter the following screen long press OK button," -- I press your button long time! Look: the people who put this device together know all about this stuff, they know what is always an "OK button" and they have created a wondrous, fantastically fabulous machine that works exquisitely well and if YOU don't know what they know, and all the complicated choices and options and automations and programmability's they've had to balance, well, relax, these are the latest hi-tech buttons, might be a few kinks but well worth it!

    Rover charger

Posted by Ken Goff on Nov 29th 2020

I have 3 of the Rover 100 Amp MPPT Solar Charger's in use and 1 still in the box for a spare. I've had no problems with any of them and they have been running for about 9 months. I would definitely recommend these chargers!!!

I have been running the Reno

Posted by Zack Wilkes on Nov 2nd 2019

I have been running the Renogy 100 amp charge controller in my off grid skoolie for the last three weeks now. I wasn’t super impressed with the delivery of the charge controller but you can’t judge a book by its cover. It worried me when it didn’t show up with a manual or any paper work for that matter but it was very easy to use just like the 40 amp charge controller I had been using previously. I thought it was very convient that the Bluetooth module and temp sensors worked in the new controller. I really like that the housing of the 100amp controller is a nice solid metal housing, it is also much larger then the other controllers Renogy sells. Functionality has been great, I haven’t had a single issue or hickup since setting all my charge settings. I also really like the new wire terminals, they are much larger then the previous models. Being able to handle a 4gauge wire opens a lot of doors for some real power
