1. What can this panel charge ?

Solar panels can charge most batteries (a controller may be needed) and power stations. It's essential to ensure that the open-circuit voltage of the panel does not exceed the maximum DC input voltage of the power station or controller.

2. Why is my solar panel under producing ?

Several factors can affect the performance of solar panels. In general, environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rises, cloudy skies and the accumulation of dirt and stains on the top glass can lead to reduced output.

3. How should I connect solar panels in my electrical circuit (series vs parallel) ?

Solar panels can be connected in series or parallel to suit your circuit size and power requirements. Connecting solar panels in series will have the effect of adding up their operating voltage output, while the system current output will be the same as that of a single panel. On the other hand, connecting solar panels in parallel will have a different effect; the operating current output of the individual panels will add up to the system output current, while the system output voltage will be the same as the output voltage of one solar panel. Please ensure that the open-circuit voltage of the connected panel does not exceed the maximum DC input voltage of the power station or controller.

4. How many solar panels do I need ?

The best way to assess how many solar panels you need is to understand and define the power load required from this system. Power is measured in watts and capacity is usually measured in watt-hours (the power output in watts multiplied by the number of hours required multiplied by a safety factor of 1.5-2). It is therefore advisable to first size your battery bank based on the minimum capacity required and then decide how many panels or how much power input is needed.

    Works great!

Works great. Easy to set up and use. Kept my rv battery¡¯s charged on a week long trip. I suggest buying some cable extensions so you can chase the sun or get out from under a tree you may be parked under.
