Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is AGM Battery?

AGM batteries are a specific design within the lead-acid battery category. AGM batteries use Absorbent Glass Mat technology, where the electrolyte (a mixture of water and sulfuric acid) is absorbed into a fiberglass mat separator. This design eliminates the need for free-flowing electrolyte and makes the battery maintenance-free and spill-proof.

2. Can I discharge the battery to 0% and then recharge it again?

To avoid cycle life shortening, it is recommended not to discharge the battery below 50%. And when not in use, we recommend charging it 100% before storing it and recharging it after three months.

3. What's the best way to place and store this battery?

It's a sealed battery and we recommend placing the battery upright. It is allowed to be placed and installed on its side only if there are special reasons for doing so. DO NOT place the battery upside down. You should store it in a dry and cool (-4°F~140°F / -20°C~60°C) place. Make sure that it is 100% charged before storing it, and recharge after three months.

4. I will live in RV during the winter holiday. So I want to know that can this battery be used at freezing temperatures?

The discharge working temperature range is -4~140℉/ -20~60℃ and the charge temperature range is 32~122℉/ 0~50℃. Using this battery at a lower or higher temperature than the range will shorten the battery's lifespan. We recommend checking the specific daily temperature of the place you will be going before using this AGM battery.

5. Do they come with the terminal bolts? if not what size do they take?

This Renogy AGM battery comes with two M8 x 1.25 x 20 mm terminal bolts.

6. Can I connect batteries in series and in parallel?

Yes, you can. The maximum number that can be connected in parallel is 4. In series, there are no limitations.

7. Can I connect a 100 Ah battery to a 200 Ah battery?

No, you can't. All the batteries you connect together should be the same capacity (Ah), the same voltage (V), and most importantly, the same battery type (AGM). And it would be better if they come from the same brand.

8. When using a charge controller, which battery type should I set?

You should choose the SLD battery settings.

9. Is it compatible with Renogy ONE?

No. This battery is not compatible with Renogy ONE currently. You can use a 500A Battery Monitor With Shunt (sold separately) to keep track of battery status.

10. Can this battery be used in series to build a 24-volt system?

Yes, you can. The maximum number that can be connected in parallel is 4. In series, there are no limitations.
