1. Which kind of extension cord I should purchase with this panel for more mobility from my RV?

The Renogy Solar Panel Extension Cable will be able to make more space between your solar panels and the charge controller. There is multiple size choice, please choose the same size of cable for extension. And please also realize that the longer the extension, the greater the line loss. A bigger gauge will be required for longer runs.

2. Can I add more solar panels with the suitcase to expand my system?

This solar suitcase is designed for expansion, additional panels are added to the system available based on your needs and space. We suggest you add the same solar suitcase for expansion.

3. Does this suitcase come with a charge controller? What size controller should I use with it?

Only the solar suitcase included. But you can search and find a plug-and-play bundle kit including this suitcase and a waterproof Renogy Voyager 20A charger controller. You may also choose the controller according to your system, divide the total power by the battery system voltage, the current value get can be used as a reference for controller selection.

4. What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system?

A solar panel has to be connected to a charge controller to regulate current, and a battery to store the electrical power. You will need adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller, and tray cables connecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery.

5. Can I use this suitcase to charging my 120v receptacles directly?

The suitcase is not able to charge 120V power receptacles directly. Plus a 12v battery and inverter would give the 120v output you would want. The panel would recharge the battery, the battery will store the power, and the inverter would be able to supply the 120v power that you need.

6. Are these monocrystalline or polycrystalline panels?

The suitcase with 2 pcs 50W Renogy high-quality monocrystalline solar panels.

7. Can I use this suitcase in rainy days? Can rain damage the solar kit?

The solar panels are fully waterproof with IP66 class. It will be able to work on rainy days and applicable to a wider range of scenarios, such as marine, yacht, etc. But we recommend you to use it with a waterproof charge controller, since water into the regular controller may damage the internal circuitry. You can search and find a bundle system including this suitcase with a waterproof Renogy Voyager 20A charger controller.

8. Why is my solar panel underproducing?

Solar panel performance may be hindered for a number of reasons. Most commonly environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rise, cloudy sky, and dirt and stain build up on the top glass will cause a reduced power output. This is a portable suitcase, you may try to move it in place or adjust the kickstands angels to get better sunshine. The ideal output of it will be around 500 Watt-hours per day (Calculated based on 100Wx5h expected sunlight availability).

9. What does the 12V/24V in the product title of the solar panel mean? Why is it different from the value on the label/specification sheet of the solar panel?

The 12V/24V in product titles (ex. 100W 12V Monocrystalline Solar panel) does not refer to the actual voltage (Voc or Vmp) of the solar panels, but rather to the voltage of the solar system or energy storage system to which the panel is best suited. The voltage of the solar panel must be higher than the solar system voltage.

    Works Great

Posted by W. Stetar on Sep 1st 2022

Attached mine to the roof of my overland rig (Sherpa rack) and plugged it into the Redarc controller to feed a dual battery setup. Works like a dream.

    Light power

Posted by Earl Daniels on Sep 1st 2022

Have not yet mounted. Warped a tiny little bit during testing, though will still flatten out okay when mounted. Tests went well, getting the expected ~75 watts in full late summer sun. The heat (~135F surface temp) limits the output. Otherwise seems to be well made. I'm expecting long life and will post updates!

Lightweight, great for RV or boat use

Posted by JP on Aug 17th 2022

Being lightweight, these are great for an RV or boat where saving weight is important. These 100W panels are 3 lbs each, where 100W glass PV panels are 16 lbs each. When mounted on the roof, that extra weight up high is undesirable, and possibly dangerous, and can be significant when multiple panels are used.

    Very pleased

Posted by Michael Connelly on Jul 27th 2022

I’m very pleased with my solar panel. Well made, easy to use. Fit perfectly to the adapter for my electric boat motor. (Maybe a little heavy, and it’s a finger pincher if you’re not careful). Made my off grid camping experience amazing and very modern, yet quiet and natural. I’d give 5 stars but it was cloudy and charging was not ideal. I’ll happily review again after a few more trips.

    20 amps in sun PWM

Posted by Deluxo on Jul 15th 2022

Bought four of them. They work great and I get 20 amps with full sun on PWM. Might go MPPT eventually. The only small complaint I have is one of the four panels has this segmented feeling in the mold in between the solar cells. It's not even really a big deal to be honest. You can only barely tell when you rub your finger over the top. Other than that I highly recommend these. Yes they're kind of flappy because they're big.... If you want power just buy these. Yes they're plastic they're going to flap around. For all the haters.

    Going strong after 1 year.

Posted by David T. on Jun 21st 2022

Using 3M product to secure to RV roof and then Quick roof on edges: Both panels still going strong: Thinking of adding 1 more. No drilling!

Mounted using pseudo-velcro 2” wide. Fit perfectly. On the road charges Goal yeti 400 lithium beautifully.
